So as you can see, we have a fill shape that's overlapping one of the text elements in the 5 by 7 image that we have on the art board. If we go up to the upper left corner of the screen, you have the layers panel, and you can see here that the gradient shape is at the top. If we're going to click and drag and drag it all the way to the bottom, it'll actually put it behind everything.

Use the Layers panel to control the stacking order of the elements on your artboard.

Change the order

  1. Open the Layers panel in the upper-left corner of the editor.
  2. Find the element that is covering another element.
  3. Drag it up or down in the list.
  4. Move it lower in the list to place it behind the other elements.

Result

The elements appear in the order you want, so backgrounds, images, shapes, and text can work together without unwanted overlap.
