So there are a couple of ways to add images to our template. So if we go to the top side of the screen and click on the image slot, there's a list of common aspect ratios here, we're gonna go ahead and click on the 5 by 7 and then it goes onto your mouse, and as you pan your mouse around, it'll place it on the canvas. So I'm gonna go ahead and put it here left click, and it's placed. There's another way that we can actually add images, and it's by clicking the keyboard shortcut A for artboard.

You click it, it presents this panel, so it's really easy to come in here and like add a 10 by 8. You can zoom in with your scroll wheel come through here, pick a 3 by 4, shrink it down, adjust these. And just like that, we have our own custom template with images.

Add image areas to your template and choose the crop shape that fits each part of the design.

Add an image area

  1. Select Image Slot in the top bar.
  2. Choose a common aspect ratio, such as 5 × 7.
  3. Move the slot over the canvas and click to place it.

For more control, press A to open the artboard panel, choose a custom size such as 10 × 8 or 3 × 4, and place it on the canvas.

Result

Your template has image slots with the aspect ratios and placement needed for the finished design.
