## Why it was built

- Started in 2025 from the work that happens after picture day: reconciling rosters, correcting names, collecting missing information, matching packages, and preparing production.
- Too much of that process depended on disconnected systems and repeated manual entry.
- Mike Bennett brought the perspective of a working volume photographer: what breaks under pressure and what studios need to make the workflow dependable.
- The mission is to give studios their time back without taking away their creative or business control. Development is shaped through direct collaboration with the photographers using the platform.

## Who uses it

- Photographers and studios managing large numbers of subjects, repeatable packages, and personalized photo products.
- Parents and other customers, who use a studio's storefront to choose products, provide required information, and pay online.
- The studio sets its own packages, pricing, branding, and order-form fields.

## Ordering and fulfillment

- Batch Relay provides the software. Professional labs produce and ship the physical products.
- Batch Relay does not operate a printing facility.
- Its role includes preparing assets, checking order requirements, mapping supported products, and maintaining the connection between studio orders and lab fulfillment.
- The provider-neutral model means the platform is not restricted to a single lab connection. It does not mean every product is interchangeable between labs.
- A supported connection does not, by itself, imply exclusivity or endorsement by the lab.
